STUDENT LIFE : What about extra curricular activities?

Extracurricular Activities

We believe the whole school experience extends far beyond academics, so we offer students the opportunity to be involved in activities that enrich their school lives. Activities include an array of student clubs depending on student interests, athletics, fieldtrips and social get-togethers and more.

At The Lighthouse, we offer and encourage students to participate in our intramural sports program. We acknowledge different skill levels, and our program gives all students the opportunity to participate and learn the value of sportsmanship and teamwork in an environment that fosters encouragement and support.
The primary goals of the program are:

  1. Introduce our students to a variety of sports and leisure activities
  2. Provide our students an opportunity for fun and fellowship in a safe, nurturing environment
  3. Develop and enhance physical fitness and coordination
  4. Develop good sportsmanship and other interpersonal/social skills

Social Skills

The Lighthouse strives to successfully address the social and emotional needs of each student. The faculty and administration work with students to develop self-regulation, life and social skills. At every opportunity, teachers encourage students to interact appropriately, advocate for themselves, and recognize social cues of others. Students are encouraged to use and practice their skills among peer relations and in social situations.  The Lighthouse offers a weekly after school social skills class open to all students and the community.
